October 6, 2008 PUBLIC HEALTH UPDATE #6: LISTERIOSISThe Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health advises that further testing has determined a recent Manitoba case of listeriosis reported on Sept. 24 is not linked to the current national outbreak.
The genetic fingerprint of the listeria bacteria in this case is different from the genetic fingerprint in the listeria bacteria associated with the recalled Maple Leaf products.
The individual, a woman in her 50s with an underlying medical condition, is a resident of the Winnipeg health region.
