BRAZILIAN AGRICULTURAL EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER CHOOSES MANITOBA AS SITE FOR NEW CANADIAN OPERATIONS
SAO PAULO--Motomco Group of Brazil, Premier Greg Selinger and CentrePort Canada announced today the Brazilian agricultural equipment manufacturer will open its first Canadian-based operation in Manitoba.
The announcement was made during the premier’s trade mission to Brazil. Motomco, an international manufacturer of state-of-the-art grain quality-control products, worked closely with Manitoba Trade and Investment, andCentrePort Canada to find industrial space for its new operation, Canada Moisture Analyzers, which will offer sales and service for its products, which measure moisture content in grains.
“We are pleased to welcome this investment from Motomco, an international company that has chosen Manitoba in which to base its Canadian operations after first learning about our province’s advantages through Manitoba Trade and Investment,” Selinger said. “Its location in Manitoba will enhance our strong agricultural machinery sector and enable the company to access the multi-modal transportation and logistics connections that link our province to markets across Canada and the world.”
“In addition to being a major grain producer, we know that Canada is a safe country for international investors, with a well-defined economic policy, and it is growing up fast, offering a wide range of opportunities,” said Manoel Henrique da Silva, CEO, Motomco Group. “After evaluating many regions all over the country, we chose Manitoba. With the helpful support of Manitoba Trade and Investment, and CentrePort Canada, who highlighted the major advantages and opportunities of being there, we chose Winnipeg and we are pleased with our choice.”
“Motomco was a natural fit for Manitoba,” said Diane Gray, president and CEO, CentrePort Canada. “This is a company with global operations that wants to expand its imports, sales and servicing here, as well as link into its existing supply chains such as those to Asia Pacific. We will be continuing to work with them as they grow their Manitoba and Canadian operations.”
Motomco officials started working with Manitoba Trade and Investment, the Province of Manitoba’s official multilingual trade branch, during a previous trade mission to Brazil. From there, the company was introduced to CentrePort Canada, which helped lead Motomco officials on several site tours in Winnipeg over the last six months. Motomco is expecting to open its Canadian office this summer between King Edward and Border streets.
