House To Reconvene, Budget To Be Introduced April 4

The Manitoba legislature will reopen April 4 with the introduction of the 2007 budget, government house leader Dave Chomiak announced today.

“Our government will continue to act on Manitobans’ priorities, investing in key areas like health care, education and environmental protection,” Chomiak said.  “We will continue this year to balance the budget and invest in areas of public interest which include today’s announcement that bolsters the number of police officers in Winnipeg’s Stolen Auto Unit.”

Chomiak said the legislature is scheduled to sit for 11 weeks this spring and nine weeks this fall.  He noted the Manitoba legislature had more sitting days in 2006 than any other western province.
