Flood Bulletin #7
- A flood warning remains in effect for the Assiniboine River from St-Lazare to Brandon. A flood warning is issued when river levels are exceeding the banks and a flood is expected.
- A flood watch remains in effect for the Assiniboine River from Millwood to St-Lazare. A flood watch is issued when river levels approach the bank and are likely to overflow.
- Flooding in these areas is expected to primarily affect agricultural land.

Flood Situation
- While water levels remain high in some regions, flood risks are easing in many areas of the province.
- The Red River is at or near crest through most of the province. A second, lower peak is expected in the next week.
- Flows on tributaries in the upper portion of the Assiniboine basin are increasing, but are generally decreasing on tributaries in the lower basin.
- Water levels on the Whitemud River are presently dropping. However, flows on the Big Grass River into the Big Grass Marsh are rising as the snowpack from the eastern slope of Riding Mountain continues to melt. Levels on the lower Whitemud River at Woodside and Westbourne may rise due to this run-off.
- Streams in the Parkland and Swan River region are rising. Most streams are not expected to rise higher than peak levels experienced earlier in the year.
Flood Response
- Flood tubes were provided to the Ebb and Flow First Nation over the weekend to provide protection to several homes threatened by overland flooding.
- The Rural Municipality of Coldwell made a cut in the existing dike near Lundar Beach on May 4 to allow overland flooding to drain from behind the dike.
- Due to low activity, flood liaison offices will close at 4 p.m. today. Manitobans with questions or concerns can contact their local municipality or Manitoba Government Inquiry at 1-866-626-4862 (toll-free).
Manitobans are reminded that flooding can affect road conditions quickly and people should stay away from ice and fast-running water. Do not attempt to drive or walk through fast-moving water. Before travelling, check road conditions by calling 511.
Any individuals affected by flooding can call the Red Cross Disaster Management phone number at 1-888-662-3211 (toll-free). The Red Cross has cleanup kits available on request.
