Province Advises Provincial Park Passes Now Available
Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship advises that provincial park Explorer passes for the 2015 season are now available in time for the holidays.
In response to public demand, these annual provincial park passes are now available for $40 at the Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship head office (200 Saulteaux Cres.) and Manitoba Liquor Mart outlets. They are also available online through Canada Map Sales at www.canadamapsales.com.
Manitoba’s provincial parks offer a multitude of winter recreational opportunities. There are hundreds of kilometres of snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and hiking trails that are groomed and maintained throughout the winter season. Pet owners can take advantage of trails designated for skijoring, kick sledding and dog sledding. SNOMAN Snopasses are required for snowmobilers using groomed trails in provincial parks.
Trail grooming reports are updated weekly throughout the winter season every Thursday to help plan winter adventures. Maps of winter trails and updated reports can be found at www.manitobaparks.com. Weekly reporting begins Dec. 18.
Park interpreters host a number of hands-on learning experiences for families. Interpretive programs are free and offered year round in Birds Hill, Spruce Woods and Whiteshell provincial parks to encourage Manitobans to get outdoors and connect to natural, cultural and historical resources.
