Province Advises PR 250 Bridge Over Assiniboine River North of Alexander Temporarily Closed for Safety
Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation is reporting the emergency closure of the PR 250 bridge over the Assiniboine River north of Alexander, about 10 kilometres north of the Trans-Canada Highway.
The temporary closure is due to structural damage from an oversized load striking an overhead cross beam of the steel-truss bridge.
A preliminary assessment of the damage by government staff has determined that a complete inspection and engineering assessment is required. The bridge will be closed for safety reasons until the necessary repairs are completed.
Stakeholders such as the rural municipality, emergency services, RCMP and school buses that may use the route have been contacted.
