Agriculture Minister Joining Delegation at World's Largest Agritech Trade Show in Germany: Eichler

The Manitoba government is embarking on a European trade mission highlighted by participation in Agritechnica, the world’s largest trade show of agricultural machinery and technology, Agriculture Minister Ralph Eichler announced today.

“Our government is proud to work proactively on fostering trade relationships and exploring opportunities to grow business between Manitoba and the European market,” said Eichler.  “Trade is vitally important to the economic success of our province and this is especially true for our agriculture industry, who have benefited greatly by participating in this internationally renowned agricultural trade show.”

Eichler will be joining a delegation of nearly 100 industry professionals from the province at Agritechnica including representation of 16 Manitoba-based companies.  Manitoba Trade and Investment has arranged booths at the trade show where each of these companies will be hosted.

After attending the trade show and meeting with industry and government officials while in Hannover, Germany, Eichler will be travelling to France to meet with trade representatives and to tour the operations of Roquette, the protein processing company which announced a record $400-million investment in Manitoba in January 2017.

“Manitoba is open for business,” said Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Blaine Pedersen.  “There are tremendous trade opportunities under the newly formed CETA agreement, which recently came into effect in September.  We are pleased that so many Manitoba companies will be able to explore these opportunities first-hand at Agritechnica.”

Participation in Agritechnica has proven beneficial for equipment manufacturers and grain-based technology firms in Manitoba.  Survey respondents from Manitoba who participated in the trade show in 2015 projected sales for the following 18 to 24 months to be in the range of $75 to $100 million.
