Flu Bulletin #6

Manitoba has received 9,200 doses of vaccine without adjuvant that is being initially targeted for pregnant women in the province. The vaccine is being delivered to regional health authorities now. Regional health authorities will advise residents of the plans to administer this vaccine in their areas.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has recommended that vaccine without adjuvant can be given to pregnant women at any stage of their pregnancy.

Pregnant women can get additional information from www.manitoba.ca/flu, Health Links-Info Santé or their health-care provider about which pandemic flu shot is best for them.

As of the end of the day Nov. 2, there had been 136,738 flu shots administered in Manitoba of the 206,000 it has received to date.

Manitoba expects to receive 17,500 of vaccine with adjuvant this week, 2,000 doses more than anticipated. This will be distributed to regional health authorities.
