Province Commits an Additional $100,000 for Pakistan Flood Relief

The Province of Manitoba is giving an additional $100,000 to the Manitoba Council for International Co-operation (MCIC) to be used for emergency relief and recovery efforts in Pakistan, Premier Greg Selinger announced today.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Pakistan as they deal with this catastrophe,” Selinger said.  “The flooding earlier this month has been devastating.  The people of Manitoba are always ready to reach out with a helping hand when another part of the world is in need.”

The commitment brings to $200,000 the total support the provincial government is providing to the MCIC, which will ensure the money will be used for emergency relief and recovery efforts in Pakistan.

The provincial government has supported relief efforts of the MCIC in response to several international disasters including earthquakes in Haiti, Indonesia and Pakistan and a landslide in the Philippines.
