PREMIER ANNOUNCES JON MONTGOMERY JOINS ORDER OF THE BUFFALO HUNT



Premier Greg Selinger has announced that Jon Montgomery received Manitoba’s Order of the Buffalo Hunt yesterday in recognition of his outstanding achievement in winning a gold medal in skeleton at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
 
“Russell, Manitoba, welcomed its famous prodigy home yesterday with a great celebration,” said Selinger. “Jon is a proud Manitoban and a big promoter of our province and Canada.  I know he will continue to make us proud and represent us well in his future career.”
 
The Order of the Buffalo Hunt was founded in 1957 to recognize the outstanding and distinctive contributions of leaders in areas such as politics, business, sports and entertainment.  
 
Montgomery joins many notable people who have also received this award including hockey player Jonathon Toews, Aboriginal leaders Mary Richard and Grand Chief Ron Evans, speedskater Susan Auch, world-champion cyclist Tanya Dubnicoff and entertainers Neil Young, Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman.
