Province Brings Manitoba Business Gateway to Five New Locations
Manitoba is continuing to cut red tape by establishing the Manitoba Business Gateway in five bilingual service centres, Entrepreneurship, Training and Trade Minister Peter Bjornson announced today, while acknowledging Red Tape Awareness Week in Canada.
“By providing single-window access and referrals to a wide array of services, including financial programs, skills development and business expansion, the Manitoba Business Gateway streamlines the entrepreneurial process,” said Bjornson. “Manitoba remains committed to cutting government red tape by providing more single-window access to businesses in the province.”
The new Manitoba Business Gateway programs will operate in the bilingual service centres of
St. Boniface, St. Vital, St. Laurent, Notre Dame de Lourdes and St-Pierre-Jolys, complementing services the centres already provide. The centre’s information specialists will also be equipped with additional knowledge and tools they can use to help entrepreneurs and employers cut red tape and become more successful and competitive.

The minister noted, while efforts are being made to reduce red tape, necessary regulations play a critical role in protecting the health and safety of citizens, preserving the environment and securing the conditions for an innovative and competitive economy.
“We are encouraged the total overall cost to businesses for complying with regulations has gone down since 2005 in Manitoba,” said Bjornson. “However, businesses here are concerned about the impact of red tape and we continue to identify and implement measures to support businesses and help reduce their costs.”
