Fire Bulletin



  • Manitoba Conservation, the Manitoba Emergency Measures Organization and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to support municipalities and fire departments with fires in southeastern Manitoba.
  • Evacuation orders have been lifted in the RM of Stuartburn.  Residents ofCaliento and Lonesand are now able to return home.
  • The RM of Piney has lifted the evacuation order for Woodridge but Sandilands remains under a mandatory evacuation order due to hot spots adjacent to the community.  The RM will continue to monitor the situation.
  • No new fires have started in the eastern region today.
  • Cottagers, hikers, residents and other travellers should keep a close eye on local conditions.

Stuartburn Fire

  • Cooler, less windy weather on Saturday allowed fire crews to re-establish control lines as well as expand new control lines on new parts of the fire.
  • Weather conditions are expected to be more favourable again today.
  • Operations undertaken yesterday evening near the community of Sandilands were very successful and have reduced the threat to this community.
  • Since the fire began, more than 160 firefighters from 27 different municipal fire departments have been working to fight the fire. 
  • Four water bombers continue to support firefighting efforts. 

Bissett Fire

  • The fire near Bissett at Long Lake is still 18,000 hectares in size, approximately 40 km long and six km wide.  No structures have been lost at this time.
  • Approximately 116 firefighters and support staff, as well as seven bulldozers, one skidder, eight helicopters and water bomber support are being used to fight this fire.
