Wind Alerts Issued for Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba
- Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for today and into the weekend for Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.
- A severe wind warning is in effect for the North and South basins of Lake Winnipeg and a high wind warning is in place for southern Lake Manitoba, with winds from the northwest ranging from 37 to 55 km/h.
- Manitoba Water Stewardship advises this wind speed and direction will result in wind setup of approximately three feet in the North and South basins of Lake Winnipeg and one to two feet on Lake Manitoba in addition to wave action.
- Environment Canada’s forecast indicates wind setup will begin today and is forecast to continue into the weekend.
