Wind Alerts Issued for Lake Winnipeg, Lake Manitoba Above the Narrows



  • Environment Canada has issued warnings for winds beginning tonight and building tomorrow over Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.
  • Strong wind warnings are in effect for the South Basin of Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba just north of the Narrows, with winds from the north at 37 to 55 km/hr.
  • Manitoba Water Stewardship advises this wind speed and direction will result in wave action and wind setup of greater than three feet and in the South Basin of Lake Winnipeg and one to two feet on Lake Manitoba.
  • Environment Canada’s forecast indicates wind setup may begin overnight tonight and it is forecast to continue through tomorrow until winds decrease late tomorrow night or Wednesday morning.
