Wind Alerts Issued for Lakes Winnipeg, Manitoba
- Environment Canada has issued high wind warnings for today for Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.
- Due to these high winds, a severe wind warning is in effect for the south basin of both Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba. Winds are expected to be from the north ranging between 37 and 55 km/h.
- Manitoba Water Stewardship advises this wind speed and direction will result in wave action and wind setup of greater than three feet in the South Basin of Lake Winnipeg and one to two feet on Lake Manitoba.
- Environment Canada’s forecast indicates wind setup will begin today and it is forecast to continue until winds decrease this evening or overnight.
