Province Invests in New Accessible Play Structure at Windsor School

New provincial funding support will soon see students at Windsor School enjoying a new accessible play structure, Education Minister Nancy Allan announced today.

“Community infrastructure like this play structure can have a real positive impact on our neighbourhoods,” said Allan.  “It’s this type of recreational infrastructure that pulls communities together as children and families engage in healthy activities.

“The Manitoba government is pleased to contribute $20,000 from the Community Places Program towards this exciting playground project.  The new play structure will allow students to get physically active while playing safely.”

Funding will replace the old existing wooden structure with a new accessible EVOS brand play structure.  Construction is expected to begin July 1.

The Community Places Program and the new Manitoba Building and Renewal Plan are helping build and improve Manitoba’s critical infrastructure needs such as flood protection, health centres, schools and roads as well as community infrastructure, said Allan.

Since its creation, the Community Places Program has provided more than $107 million in grants to support more than 7,000 community construction projects provincewide.  These grants have leveraged almost $700 million in infrastructure improvements in rural and urban communities, creating a broad range of jobs and stimulating the economy, the minister added.
