Province Announces Over $1.45 Million in Funding for Infrastructure Projects in the North
THE PAS—The Manitoba government will fund four new infrastructure projects in Manitoba’s north that will support the communities of Norway House and Cormorant, Aboriginal and Northern Affairs Minister Eric Robinson announced here today
“These new projects will help reduce their operating costs and improve recycling efficiency in these communities,” said Minister Robinson. “Our government is dedicated to helping improve our communities and protecting the environment.”
The minister announced the following projects:

Norway House:
- $510,000 for heat trace replacement, which will prevent the water and sewer lines from freezing and will also reduce maintenance costs;

$224,000 for a snowplow, which will help the Public Works Department provide efficient
snow-clearing services in the community for residents, service vehicles and emergency response vehicles; - $247,000 to expand the maintenance garage to provide two extra bays that will house Public Works vehicles, such as a snowplow truck and water truck; and
-
Cormorant:
- $475,000 for new Turner Drive subdivision water and sewer lines, which will meet the needs of the serviced lots in the community.
“These green infrastructure projects are good news for northern Manitoba. Our provincial investments today will provide communities with safe drinking water, clean and clear roads and will help the future development of these communities,” Minister Robinson added.
