The Manitoba government has extended funding through 2016-17 for the Eureka Project, a stand-alone, not-for-profit incubator that helps entrepreneurs launch and grow innovative technology companies, Jobs and the Economy Minister Kevin Chief announced today.

“This investment in technology-startup companies brings new and innovative products to market through a collaborative process,” ‎Minister Chief said.  “High-tech startups are essential to Manitoba’s long-term economic growth and they provide exciting new job opportunities for Manitobans, which is essential for keeping young people in the province.”

The Eureka Project was launched in 2007, providing entrepreneurs with hands-on support in areas such as business strategy, finance services, corporate finance, sales, marketing and executive resourcing.  The organization assists startup companies in sectors like information communication and technology, agriculture technology, food sciences and clean technology.

“We are thrilled with this announcement,” said Gary Brownstone, president and CEO, the Eureka Project.  “The Manitoba government’s commitment will allow us to implement a multi-year plan to continue to support the creation of high-quality, high-growth tech companies in Manitoba.”

“Working with the Eureka Project has been fantastic,” said Mark Kulchycki, chief technology officer and co-founder of VisualSpection.  “Their support and mentorship has helped guide us through many early challenges and issues commonly faced by startups.”

The new, three-year funding agreement invests $300,000 annually through 2016-17.
