Manitoba Government Expands Red Tape Reduction Initiative to more Non-profit Organizations

The Manitoba government is expanding its program to reduce red tape for non-profit organizations and to provide stable funding for those who aren’t currently involved in the program, Family Services Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross announced today.

“We want to ensure that non-profits can access the stable funding they need and we want to reduce the red tape required to access funding,” Minister Irvin-Ross said.  “This expansion will allow more non-profit organizations to dedicate more of their energy and effort to delivering important services to the communities in which they serve.”

This initiative was originally announced in 2011 as a pilot project to provide stable, predictable funding to 35 representative non-profit organizations along with additional goals of:

  • eliminating administrative duplication;
  • streamlining reporting requirements; and
  • developing a more accountable, efficient and responsive relationship between government and the non-profit sector.

The minister noted that organizations that participated in the first phase of this initiative stated through an independent evaluation conducted in 2013 the stable provincial funding agreements have allowed for long-term planning and assisted in the recruitment and retention of staff.

 Organizations wishing to be considered for inclusion in the expansion of this initiative are encouraged to visit www.gov.mb.ca/npoto fill out an application.
