Province Issues Highway System Construction Bulletin

Week of April 27 to May 3

Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation reports a $57-million investment on four highway improvement projects started this week.

This week’s projects include:

  • Continuing of grading and grade widening on 32 kilometres of The Trans-Canada Highway east, eastbound, from Brokenhead River to the Greater Winnipeg Water District Railway crossing. This $13-million multi-year project is being undertaken by Chabot Enterprise Limited and is expected to be completed by the end of fall 2015, weather permitting.
  • Continuing paving 23 km on PTH 59 from south junction PTH 12, north of Brokenhead Ojibway First Nation, to PTH 11 including intersection improvements and realignment of PTH 12 access into Grand Beach. This $19-million, multi-year project is being undertaken by Mulder Construction & Materials Limited and is expected to be completed this summer. A detour will be in effect during the realignment of PTH 12 Access into Grand Beach.
  • Concrete reconstruction of 12 km on PTH 75 from PR 305 to PR 210 along the northbound lanes. This $20-million project is being undertaken by Nelson River Construction and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2015, weather permitting.  There will be a detour in effect for this work.
  • Paving 17 km on PTH 100 South Perimeter Highway from PTH 75 to The Trans-Canada east, along east and west bound lanes. This $5 million project is being undertaken by Nelson River Construction and is expected to be completed by June 2015, weather permitting. Alternative exits will be used during the paving of interchanges.

The annual road repair season is underway and motorists are reminded to slow down and drive safely when they see construction signs and flag people at the roadside. Drivers are required to reduce speeds to specific limits in construction zones under the Highway Traffic Act.
