Manitoba Government Recognizes Recipients of the 17th Annual Manitoba Service Excellence Awards

Manitoba government employees who have made exceptional contributions in public service were recognized at the Manitoba Service Excellence Awards, Premier Greg Selinger announced today.

“These awards acknowledge provincial employees who have made outstanding contributions in serving the public.  We’re grateful to them for their hard work and innovative solutions,” said Premier Selinger.  “The Manitoba government has a talented, highly skilled, diverse workforce and provincial employees work hard to keep Manitoba a great place to live.  It is fitting these awards are during National Public Service Week.”

This year, 304 people were nominated for the awards, which acknowledge exceptional workplace performance and community service.  This includes 43 people nominated from external organizations for the partnership award.  This award emphasizes innovative partnerships with the private sector, public sector, volunteer or community-based organizations.  The number of nominations for the Manitoba Service Excellence Awards almost doubled this year compared with last year, the premier noted.

The awards are during National Public Service Week, which runs from June 14 to 19.

Awards were presented for the following:

  • Community Service Award – Jessica Isidro, Manitoba Healthy Living and Seniors;
  • Innovation Award – Empowered to Change Team;
  • Leadership Award – Cynthia Winram, Manitoba Family Services;
  • Partnership Award – Manitoba Breeding Bird Atlas;
  • Premier’s Career Achievement Award – Alexandra Morton;
  • Service Excellence Individual Award – Pat Daniels, Manitoba Justice;
  • Service Excellence Team Award – Family Doctor Finder Program Development Team.

The awards have been presented since 1999.  The Manitoba government has been recognized as one of Manitoba’s Top Employers for 2015, one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2014 and one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for 2014.
