Province Announces Pre-budget Consultations Starting Soon

Listening to Manitobans about Their Priorities Key to Developing Strong Budget to Move Province Forward: Minister Dewar

Manitobans are invited to share their views about what they want to see in the next provincial budget at community meetings throughout the province and online, Finance Minister Greg Dewar announced today.

“We want to hear from Manitobans about their ideas so we can build a strong budget that focuses on what matters most to Manitoba families,” said Minister Dewar.  “I’m looking forward to meeting with people from across the province to talk about the issues that mean the most to them.”

The first consultations will begin later this month with a public meeting in The Pas.  In addition to public meetings, the province will also be using an online survey and interactive telephone town halls to reach as many Manitobans as possible, the minister noted.

Upcoming consultations will include:

  • The Pas:  Sept. 25, 1 to 2 p.m. in the cafeteria at University College of the North, 436 Seventh St. East.  To RSVP, call 204-623-2034.

A telephone town hall will be held for urban residents on Thursday, Oct. 22 and for rural residents on Friday, Oct. 23 between 7 and 8 p.m.  Registration deadlines are Oct. 19 for the urban town hall and Oct. 20 for the rural town hall, and those planning to attend are asked to register at www.gov.mb.ca/finance/consult/intro.html
