Provincial Ministers Visit Thompson
THOMPSON—Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen and Justice Minister Heather Stefanson visited Thompson today to further the government’s commitment to the Yes! North initiative and Manitoba’s northern communities, meeting with local government officials and the Thompson Chamber of Commerce to discuss working in partnership to build a stronger northern economy.
“There are incredible opportunities for economic growth throughout northern Manitoba,” said Cullen. “In partnership with municipal officials, Indigenous communities and business owners, we will be able to stimulate job creation and investment in the region.”
Stefanson also met with local RCMP and justice officials to discuss the success of the Community Safety Officer pilot program.
“Innovative models like the Community Safety Officer program in Thompson demonstrate how successful partnerships can deliver vital public safety services,” said Stefanson. “Our government recognizes both the opportunities and the challenges presented to the justice system in northern Manitoba. We are committed to promoting innovation within the justice system to provide efficient and responsive service to all Manitobans.”
