Nominations Open for Award Recognizing Achievements of Community, Industry Groups: Wishart

Nominations are now being accepted for the Minister’s Workforce Development Excellence Award, Education and Training Minister Ian Wishart announced today.

“Innovative workforce development helps individuals thrive and enables Manitoba to build a diverse, skilled labour force that keeps our economy competitive and dynamic in the global market,” said Wishart.  “It is important to recognize organizations that have demonstrated leadership in training and the development of programs or services that improve opportunities for Manitobans to strengthen their career.”

Recipients of the award will be recognized by the minister at a celebration to take place during Career and Workforce Development Month in November.  The award was established by Manitoba Education and Training in consultation with the Minister’s Advisory Council on Workforce Development, which provides information and advice to government about workforce trends, initiatives, policies and strategies for workforce development.

Manitoba businesses, organizations and collectives, including large or small, private or public, can be nominated.  Criteria include:

  • innovation that showcases unique approaches to career and workforce development;
  • engagement that supports diversity and enriches and improves employee and the customer/client experience;
  • a commitment to training that positively impacts and influences the personal and professional development of staff, participants and customers/clients; and
  • collaboration that leverages opportunities for co-operation and information sharing, within and outside of the organization.
