Manitoba Government Launches Online Red Tape Reduction Consultations
The province is launching an online consultation asking Manitobans to share their ideas to reduce red tape and unnecessary regulatory requirements, Finance Minister Cameron Friesen announced today at the conclusion of Red Tape Awareness Week.
“We are asking businesses, not-for-profit groups, municipalities and citizens from across the province to help us in the next phase of our red tape reduction strategy by identifying red tape irritants, and unnecessary rules, policies and forms that create a burden when conducting business or delivering services”, said Friesen.
Recommendations from the online consultation will be a valuable part of the Red Tape Reduction Taskforce’s work to remove red tape that restricts economic growth and limits the quality of services available to Manitobans, he noted. In its first phase, the taskforce is focusing on four specific industries; agriculture and food processing, transportation, land development and non-profit sectors.
“Reducing red tape is part of our government’s plan to energize our economy and unleash our potential,” Friesen said. “We are committed to making Manitoba the most improved province for regulatory accountability by 2020.”
Online submissions can be made at www.gov.mb.ca/reduceredtape/ until Feb. 20.
