Canada and Manitoba Partner to Expand BizPaL Service

Free Online Business Permit and Licence Hub Cuts Red Tape, Helps Entrepreneurs: Cullen

ROSSBURN—Starting and running a business in Rossburn Municipality just became easier thanks to BizPaL, an online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork and helps entrepreneurs start up faster, Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen announced today.

“BizPaL is a partnership between federal, provincial and local governments,” said Cullen.  “The free online application offers a directory of permits and licences required to start or run a business, saving time and resources for those looking to start or expand a business venture in the province.”

Greg Nesbitt, MLA for Riding Mountain, attended the announcement on behalf of Cullen and believes the launch of BizPaL is great news for businesses in the area.

“We recognize the immense contribution small businesses make to communities like Rossburn in creating jobs and strengthening the local economy,” said Nesbitt.  “BizPaL is a powerful source of information for entrepreneurs that streamlines business interactions with government, reduces red tape and makes it easier for businesses to grow and get started.”

BizPaL is managed across the province through Entrepreneurship Manitoba, as part of its mandate to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship in urban, rural and northern Manitoba by supporting
start-ups, developing entrepreneurial leadership capacity and ensuring programming that supports small and medium-sized enterprise growth.

The government of Canada and Small Business and Tourism Minister Bardish Chagger also support the launch of BizPal in Rossburn, located in western Manitoba.

“BizPaL is a unique collaboration between all levels of government – it helps entrepreneurs get information about all the permits and licences they need to start and grow their businesses,” said Chagger.  “Our government will continue to work hard to support businesses across Canada as they innovate, create jobs and generate wealth in our communities.”

Dallas Miller, chair of the Economic Development Portfolio in Rossburn, is happy to partner with the Canada and Manitoba in this initiative.

“The council is proud to support the BizPaL program as it will open our boundaries to the world,” said Miller.  “Future business owners will be able to access all information required to open a business in our community.”

With the addition of Rossburn, there are now 65 local governments in Manitoba involved in this program.
