Free Online Business Permit and Licence Hub Cuts Red Tape, Helps Entrepreneurs: Cullen

Starting and running a business in the Municipality of Russell-Binscarth just became easier thanks to BizPaL, an online business permit and licence service that saves time spent on paperwork and helps entrepreneurs start up faster, Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen announced today.

“BizPaL is a partnership between federal, provincial and local governments,” said Cullen. “The innovative online service provides users with access to information about business permits, licenses and other requirements to start or expand a business venture in the province.”

Greg Nesbitt, MLA for Riding Mountain, attended the announcement in Russell today on behalf of Cullen and believes the launch of BizPaL is great news for businesses in the area.

“Small businesses make tremendous contributions in municipalities like Russell-Binscarth by creating jobs and strengthening the local economy,” said Nesbitt.  “BizPaL is a powerful source of information for entrepreneurs that streamlines business interactions with government, reduces red tape and makes it easier for businesses to get started and to grow.”

BizPaL is managed across the province through Entrepreneurship Manitoba, as part of its mandate to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship in urban, rural and northern Manitoba by supporting start-ups, developing entrepreneurial leadership capacity and ensuring programming that supports small and medium-sized enterprise growth.

“Reducing the barriers for entrepreneurs to bring good business ideas to reality is always going to be welcomed,” said Chuck Davidson, President and CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. “Saving time on the front end will make it easier for entrepreneurs to start their businesses and should result in greater prosperity throughout Manitoba.”

The government of Canada and Small Business and Tourism Minister Bardish Chagger also support the launch of BizPal in Russell-Binscarth, located in western Manitoba.

“Small businesses play an important role in the in the Canadian economy. Our government is committed to reducing the amount of red tape so that companies can continue to innovate, create jobs andgrow the middle class,” said Chagger. “We will continue to work with all levels of government to support the success and growth of businesses across Canada because an economy that works for everyone is one that enables us all to succeed.”

Mayor Len Derkach, Municipality of Russell-Binscarth, is happy to partner with the governments of Canada and Manitoba in this initiative.

“BizPal provides an excellent tool for entrepreneurs to access the pertinent information they need to open and operate a business in our community,” said Derkach.  “The Municipality of Russell Binscarth Council is pleased to partner with the Government of Canada and the Province of Manitoba to offer this service to our residents.”

With the addition of the Municipality of Russell-Binscarth, there are now 65 local governments in Manitoba involved in this program.
