The third session of the 41st Manitoba legislature is expected to open shortly after 1:30 p.m. tomorrow with the reading of the speech from the throne by Lt.-Gov. Janice C. Filmon.

At 1 p.m., Warrant Officer Fred Pratt will lead members of the 26th Field Artillery Regiment Detachment Brandon from 38 Canadian Brigade Group through a 15-gun artillery salute as Filmon leaves Government House.  The artillery salute troop will be commanded by Capt. Steve Sloat.

At the Grand Staircase inside the Legislative Building, Filmon will inspect a Guard of Honour made up of members of 17 Wing Winnipeg and 38 Canadian Brigade Group Headquarters led by Capt. Kristin Johnston.

The Royal Canadian Air Force Band, led by Capt. Matt Clark, will conduct the viceregal salute.

The official party will then continue up the staircase to the lieutenant-governor’s reception room.  At approximately 1:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber, Filmon is scheduled to read the speech from the throne.

The speech will outline the government’s main priorities for the following legislative session and will be livestreamed at https://news.gov.mb.ca.
