Province Announces New Appointment to Manitoba Securities Commission



Manitoba Finance has appointed a new member to the Manitoba Securities Commission (MSC).

Andrea Martens has been appointed for a three-year term, effective Dec. 29.  Martens is an investment wholesaler with NEI Investments.  She holds a bachelor of arts in political science from the University of Manitoba and a MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University.  Martens holds several designations including Canadian securities course (CSC), conduct and practices (CPH), personal financial planner (PFP) and chartered investment manager (CIM).

The MSC is a division of the Manitoba Financial Services Agency (MFSA), which is a special operating agency under Manitoba Finance.  The MSC is responsible for administering The Securities Act, The Real Estate Brokers Act, The Mortgage Brokers Act and The Commodity Futures Act.  The MSC performs a judicial function in the hearing of disciplinary proceedings related to those four acts.  The MSC’s mandate is to protect the public by facilitating dynamic and competitive capital and real estate markets.
