Province Announces Appointments to Manitoba Women's Advisory Council
The Manitoba government has appointed three new members and reappointed one existing member to the Manitoba Women’s Advisory Council (MWAC), Sustainable Development Minister Rochelle Squires, minister responsible for the status of women, announced today.
“I look forward to the advice, experience and expertise these women will bring to this council and our government,” said Squires. “The MWAC plays a valuable role in helping government identify key issues of concern and working to address gender equality.”
The MWAC welcomes Debra Jonasson-Young (Winnipeg), Cindy Kellendonk (Lac du Bonnet), and Lizanne Roziere (Winnipeg), as well as returning member Kristen Lynch (Winnipeg) to a two-year term.
These appointments are part of the Manitoba government’s effort to continue to refresh the agencies, boards, and commissions of the province, ensuring that Manitobans continue to be represented in these important positions by highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals.
Debra Jonasson-Young is the director of the University of Manitoba’s Asper Executive Education Centre, and is responsible for the strategic development of its executive education program. Prior to this, she was the president of People First HR Services, past-chair of the Asper School of Business, past-chair of Women of Winnipeg and governor of the Manitoba Museum. She has also been a board member for TEC Canada, Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Manitoba Hydro, Downtown Winnipeg Improvement Zone, Tourism Winnipeg and the Nellie McClung Foundation.
Cindy Kellendonk has been a councillor for the RM of Lac du Bonnet since 2014. She is also a small business owner specializing in agricultural products and is a former branch manager for Atomic Energy of Canada.
Lizanne Roziere is a director with Deloitte’s Human Capital Managerial Design practice, specializing in large projects that require significant planning and co-ordination between multiple, diverse stakeholder groups. She holds an MBA, CMC designation, Lean Healthcare Yellowbelt and is PRINCE2 certified.
Kristen Lynch is the owner of KiK Strategy, an independent strategic marketing consultancy firm. She is a graduate of Red River College’s Creative Communications program, and has worked in the marketing industry for over 25 years in the areas of corporate, advertising, design and production industries, as well as the broadcast media.
The MWAC serves as an advisory body to government on women’s issues and works toward enhancing the overall status of women including fair representation of women across the province.
Squires thanked the outgoing members for their commitment and contribution to the MWAC.
