New Appointments Made to Board of Manitoba College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists

The province is appointing three new members to the board of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba, Health, Seniors and Active Living Minister Cameron Friesen announced today.

“Audiologists and speech-language pathologists provide important services to people across the province,” said Friesen. “The college protects the rights of patients to receive safe, competent and ethical care and I know these new board members will do their absolute best to ensure this important work continues.”

The College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Manitoba was established on Jan. 1, 2014, and regulates the provision of audiology and speech-language pathology in Manitoba. The nine-person board includes a combination of language pathologists, audiologists and public representatives

The new appointees are:

  • Dr. Cory Sul (East St. Paul): An accomplished dentist and the president of both the Manitoba Dental Association and the Winnipeg Dental Society, Sul volunteers for a number of not-for-profit organizations. He also serves as the treasurer for Birds Hill United Church and coaches youth hockey, ball hockey and football.
  • Margaret Klassen (Altona): An elementary classroom teacher for 23 years in Thames, Gretna and Altona, Klassen has been appointed as a public representative on the board. Her community service includes membership on the local palliative care board, volunteering for the Rhineland Area Food Bank and work with various community and church choirs and ensembles.
  • Naomi Negrych (Winnipeg): Negrych is an assistant director with Safe Families for Children in Winnipeg. She has been an active volunteer with Living Bible Explorers since 2004 and serves as this organization’s board secretary. Negrych has been appointed as a public member of the board.
