Province Opens Two New COVID-19 Testing Sites



Manitoba Health, Seniors and Active Living is advising that two new COVID-19 testing sites are opening soon, including a drive-thru location located at 2007 Saskatchewan Ave. West (Manitoba Public Insurance building) in Portage la Prairie and another drive-up location at 3975 Portage Ave. (Assiniboia Downs) in Winnipeg.
 
The new drive-thru site in Portage la Prairie will open Monday, Nov. 16 and will operate Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. The site will have capacity for up to 120 tests per day.

The new drive-up site in Winnipeg will open Friday, Nov. 13 and will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. It will add immediate additional capacity in Winnipeg of 200 tests per day, with the ability to expand up to 400. Appointments are required at this location and can be booked online.

Manitobans are reminded that testing is now available at select doctors’ clinics in Winnipeg. Appointments can be booked online at the Dakota Medical Centre located at 17-845 Dakota St., as well as the Minor Illness and Injury Clinic, hosted by Red River College at 2055 Notre Dame Ave.

Additional drive-thru and drive-up sites will open in the coming days and weeks. Details about locations in these communities will be provided as sites prepare to open.
 
Manitobans are reminded that only individuals experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should go for testing. Individuals with symptoms are asked to seek testing as soon as possible.
 
Employers are asked to only send employees for testing if they have symptoms or if testing has been recommended by public health officials.
