COVID-19 Vaccine Bulletin #29
Vaccine Administration
A total of 29,751 doses of vaccine have been administered in Manitoba including 26,349 first doses and 3,402 second doses.
Beginning this week, every dose of vaccine administered will be a second dose, meaning more Manitobans will have fuller protection against COVID-19.
From Jan. 25 to 30, focused immunization teams will visit the remaining 62 personal care homes across the province to offer the first dose of the vaccine to eligible residents. By the end of the week, people living in all of Manitoba’s personal care homes in Manitoba will have had an opportunity to be immunized. The specific number of immunizations are not available from these teams in real time, so more information about immunization rates will provided as soon as possible.
These teams will continue to revisit regularly personal care homes and other settings where individuals are awaiting placement to provide COVID-19 immunizations.
Appointments and Eligibility Criteria
Eligible Manitobans can now call to book an immunization appointment at the Thompson super site, which will open at the Thompson Regional Community Centre on Feb. 1. The province and regional health authority will also be offering immunization clinics for eligible health-care workers in The Pas and Flin Flon the week of Feb. 8. Additional information will be provided to those workers as soon as possible. All of these clinics will use the Moderna vaccine.
No new appointments are being made at the Winnipeg and Brandon super sites due to the Pfizer vaccine supply disruption.
As a result of the disruptions to the supply of Pfizer vaccine, it is likely that some second-dose appointments in Winnipeg and Brandon will be postponed. The number of appointments affected and length of the delay will only be determined by Manitoba once the federal government confirms the amount of vaccine delivered the week of Feb. 8 and which day it will arrive. The province expects to receive more information on this shipment later this week.
Last week, wait times to book an appointment by phone averaged under five minutes. A new option was introduced to allow people to ask for a call back from an available operator, instead of waiting on hold. About 750 of the approximately 4,200 callers used this option.

Vaccine Supply and Distribution
To date, a total of 55,650 doses of vaccine has been delivered to Manitoba. This includes:
• 40,950 doses of Pfizer vaccine, based on six doses per vial; and
• 14,700 doses of the Moderna vaccine.
A vaccine delivery is not expected this week.
Vaccine Inventory
The lowest level of super-site inventory will not be known until more information about the next delivery of Pfizer vaccine is available.
