Province Appoints New Deputy Ministers

Number and Proportion of Female Deputy Ministers Increases to Highest In Manitoba History: Pallister

The Manitoba government has made changes to the senior ranks of the Manitoba public service with the appointment of two new deputy ministers, Premier Brian Pallister announced today.

Ann Ulusoy, who currently serves as the comptroller-general, is appointed as secretary to treasury board, effective today.

Kymberly Kaufmann, currently the CEO of Eden Health Centre, is appointed as deputy minister of mental health, wellness and recovery, effective April 26.

Andrea Saj, who currently serves as executive director, public accounts with the Office of the Provincial Comptroller, is appointed as acting comptroller-general, effective today.

“I am pleased that these experienced and talented individuals are taking on new roles with Manitoba’s public service,” said Pallister. “They bring deep knowledge and understanding of the issues associated with their portfolios, and are well-qualified to serve Manitobans.”

With these changes, the government of Manitoba is setting a new record for the number of female deputy ministers with 12 women out of 20 deputy ministers. The previous record, set in September 2020, was 10 female deputy ministers out of 19.
