Manitoba Legislative Session Resumes with Focus on Health Care, Affordability and Public Safety

The Manitoba government is committed to ensuring Manitobans feel safe in their communities, government house leader Nahanni Fontaine announced today as the second session of the 43rd legislature continues.

“We are ready to get back to work to deliver on the priorities Manitobans sent us here to do,” said Fontaine. “Our team is looking forward to the busy fall sitting of this legislative session that will hold MLAs and the former premier accountable, with a vote on the ethics commissioner’s report that found they broke the law and incurred tens of thousands of dollars in fines.”

Part of this fall sitting will also improve public safety through legislation to make communities safer by giving front-line agencies more tools to keep people who are highly intoxicated safe and to get the help they need, the minister added.

Other legislative priorities include passing Budget 2025, as well as bills to prevent the sale of social housing units and protect environmental and civil society organizations from baseless lawsuits, require political parties to disclose policies for advertising, and enshrining the singing of O Canada into law.
