Premier Announces Additional Grant for the Collège Universitaire de Saint-Boniface

The province will supplement its contribution toward the expansion of the health sciences and social services building at the Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface (CUSB) by up to $4.7 million through a matching program, Premier Greg Selinger announced today.

“Supporting education is one of the best investments a government can make in its population and its economy,” the premier said. “We are continuing to invest in our universities and colleges and, by extension, our greatest resource:  our current and future students.”

On top of the $3 million in provincial funding already announced this past June, the province will provide two dollars for every dollar raised by the CUSB within the framework of the latter’s VISION fundraising campaign. These investments represent the continuation of efforts to create a better‑quality learning environment for students enrolled in nursing, social work and other programs in the health field. They will also enable the CUSB to boost its enrolment capacity and improve access to health services for official language communities in a minority situation.

“The Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface is an integral part of the high quality post-secondary education provided to Manitobans,” the premier stated. “Accordingly, this partnership can only contribute to the expansion of higher education and the advanced research activity that flows from it here in St. Boniface and elsewhere in Manitoba.”
