Province Invests in Brandon University Healthy-living Centre

$5.3 Million Being Provided by Province: Selinger

BRANDON—The provincial government is investing up to $5.31 million towards a new fitness centre for Brandon University, Premier Greg Selinger announced here today.
 
“This project is another commitment from our government to invest in stimulating our economy and providing more recreational opportunities for Manitobans,” said Selinger. “This new healthy-living centre will not only support Brandon University students, staff and athletic teams, but it will add more recreational options for residents from Brandon and the Westman area.”
 
The fitness centre will include:
·         two full-scale gymnasiums,
·         weight training equipment,
·         an indoor walking track, and
·         an athletic therapy centre.
 
The new facility, which will be located on Brandon University campus adjacent to the existing gymnasium, will more than double the size of the current space.
 
Brandon University is committed to achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) silver certification for the new facility and the existing facility will be upgraded to ensure the most efficient use of resources.
