Energy, Environment and the Economy on Agenda as Western Premiers Meet in Vancouver

VANCOUVER—Premier Greg Selinger has joined his counterparts here today from Western and Northern Canada at the annual Western Premiers Conference, where he will focus on clean energy and climate change, water policy and the economy.  Selinger said he will also raise the issue of excess moisture that is impacting many prairie farmers.

“I welcome the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the western and northern premiers to address these important issues,” Selinger said.  “We share a great deal in common and it’s vital that we work together in order to ensure we provide the best government possible for our respective regions in these challenging times.”

The Western Premiers Conference is attended by premiers and officials from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Canada-U.S. relations will also be discussed during the two-day meeting.  Western Governors’ Association chair Brian Schweitzer will join the premiers in Vancouver.
