Fire Bulletin #12

The Wildfire Program of Manitoba Sustainable Development advises that cottagers and those affected by the wildfires on the Manitoba/Ontario border are invited to a meeting with Manitoba and Ontario officials tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Whiteshell Community Hall in Falcon Lake.

Evacuation orders remain in effect at this time, but crews want to provide an update on their efforts and discuss a timeline for partial lifting of the evacuation orders.

Earlier today it was announced that travel and burning permit restrictions in eastern Manitoba have been lifted.  Local municipalities may still implement their own restrictions.  Check local municipal offices for information on municipal bans or restrictions.

PR 312 from one kilometre east of PTH 44 (Big Island turn off) to the Ontario border remains closed.  In the Whiteshell Provincial Park, the Hunt Lake, Mantario and McGillivray Falls hiking trails remain closed until wildfire conditions improve.

Further information will be released following the meeting for those who cannot attend, but no additional updates will occur until tomorrow’s meeting.

To report a wildfire, call 911 or the T.I.P. line (toll-free) at 1-800-782-0076.  The T.I.P. line is dedicated for reporting fires only.
