Province Announces Mitchell International Opens Canadian Office in Winnipeg

Mitchell International, a San Diego-based firm that works closely with Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI), has selected Winnipeg to be its new Canadian home, Crown Services Minister Cliff Cullen announced today.

“Our government has been working to assure the private sector that Manitoba is the right place for business to invest, build and grow.  By choosing to locate its Canadian head office in Winnipeg, Mitchell International is signaling its faith in our province,” said Cullen.  “With 11,000 new private-sector jobs in Manitoba so far this year and among the lowest unemployment in Canada, we are working to build momentum with a long-term approach to economic development.”

Mitchell International delivers technological solutions that simplify and accelerate claims handling and repair processes, driving more accurate, consistent and cost-effective resolutions to more than 300 insurance companies and over 30,000 collision repair facilities.  Manitoba’s public auto insurer partners with Mitchell and accredited collision repair shops throughout the province to support its physical damage management and vehicle damage estimating programs.

Mitchell’s Winnipeg office, to be located in premises owned by MPI at 420 Pembina Hwy., will be scaled to the company’s anticipated growth in operations, with an initial plan to expand to 23 employees, the minister noted.

Manitoba’s centralized location and MPI’s extensive facilities for other customer-focused activities were factors behind Mitchell’s decision to set up shop in the city.

“We chose to establish our offices in Winnipeg to leverage the strong collaboration between Mitchell and Manitoba Public Insurance in developing new solutions to support the rapid advancements in vehicle technology,” said Alex Sun, CEO for Mitchell.  “Their strategic location and the strong economy means we can provide increased service to customers in Manitoba and across other growing Canadian regions as well.”
