Province Advises PTH 1A Overpass West of Portage la Prairie Closed

Manitoba Infrastructure reports all traffic entering or exiting the west side of Portage la Prairie is being directed to use PR 240.

This is a result of structural damage to the PTH 1A overpass on the west side of Portage la Prairie following a collision involving an over-height load on a truck heading westbound on Nov. 17, around 7:30 p.m.

A full inspection of the overpass, as well as PR 240 and PTH 1A on the east side of Portage la Prairie, was conducted today with no further issues.  At this time, it is expected one lane of traffic entering Portage la Prairie will be allowed back on the PTH 1A overpass within 48 hours.

Stakeholders such as the municipality, emergency services and RCMP have been contacted.
