Fourth Session of the 41st Manitoba Legislature to Open Tuesday, Nov. 20 with Speech from the Throne



The fourth session of the 41st Manitoba legislature is expected to open at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 with the reading of the speech from the throne by Lt.-Gov. Janice C. Filmon.

At 1 p.m., Sgt. Kristopher Quiring will lead members of the 26th Field Artillery Regiment Detachment Brandon from 38 Canadian Brigade Group through a 15-gun artillery salute as the lieutenant-governor leaves Government House.  The artillery salute troop will be commanded by Capt. Zachary Smithson.

At the Grand Staircase inside the Legislative Building, the lieutenant-governor will inspect a Guard of Honour made up of members from 17 Wing Winnipeg led by Maj. Sterling Scott.

The Royal Canadian Air Force Band, led by Capt. Matt Clark, will conduct the vice-regal salute.  The official party will then proceed to the lieutenant-governor’s reception room.  At approximately 1:30 p.m. in the Legislative Chamber, the lieutenant-governor is scheduled to read the speech from the throne.

The speech will outline the government’s main priorities for the following legislative session and will be streamed live at https://news.gov.mb.ca.
