Province Advises Westbound South Perimeter Highway Closing for Repair Work

Manitoba Infrastructure advises that after a detailed inspection and assessment of the westbound lanes on the Red River Bridge along the south Perimeter Highway (PTH 100), repair work will begin this weekend to address the deck cracking problem.  The lane was closed in November after an inspection found cracking in the bridge deck concrete.

The closure of the westbound lanes will start Sunday, Dec. 16 and will be in place until the repairs are completed on Jan. 4, 2019.

Traffic will be detoured to a single lane in each direction in the eastbound lanes while repairs to westbound lanes are undertaken.  On Dec. 21 and 22, pilot vehicles will be used to slow traffic for approximately 24 hours for pouring concrete and curing operations.

Manitoba Infrastructure thanks the public for its patience and reminds drivers to slow down and drive safely when they see construction signs and flaggers at the roadside.  Drivers are required to reduce speeds to specific limits in construction zones under The Highway Traffic Act.
