Manitoba Justice advises it is appointing Loren Schinkel as a member of the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Authority of Manitoba (LGCA).

Schinkel is from Lac du Bonnet and has served with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Winnipeg Police Service and as the president of the Winnipeg Police Association.  His background aligns well with the LGCA’s regulatory responsibilities and its work with municipal and Indigenous governments.

The province further advises existing LGCA board member Stéphane Dorge has been chosen to serve as vice-chair.

The seven-member LGCA board sets the strategic direction for the organization and provides recommendations to government related to The Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act.

These appointments are part of the Manitoba government’s effort to continue to refresh the agencies, boards, and commissions of the province, ensuring that Manitobans continue to be represented in these important positions by highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals.
