Province Announces Another Increase of Outflows from the Shellmouth Reservoir

The Hydrologic Forecast Centre of Manitoba Infrastructure advises it will increase flows from the Shellmouth Reservoir by about 120 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 750 cfs on Thursday, Feb. 21, as part of the annual fall and winter draw-down to make room for anticipated spring run-off from the upper Assiniboine River.

This increase will raise Assiniboine River water levels by less than half a foot downstream of the Shellmouth Dam. The rise in levels will diminish in the easterly reaches of the river and will be near zero in Winnipeg.

The province will continue to monitor conditions in the upper Assiniboine River as well as downstream river levels.

The province will issue the first flood outlook in the very near future.
