“We’re proud to showcase Manitoba’s talented student musicians and welcome them to our Legislative Building,” said Goertzen.  “I hope Manitobans can join us over their lunch hour as we fill the building with music.”

The Music Month Concert Series will take place on the grand staircase at the Legislative Building the following Thursdays:

  • May 9 at 11:30 a.m. – École Précieux-Sang, École Dieppe, École Saint-Malo School, Collège Louis-Riel and Centre scolaire Léo-Rémillard.

The minister acknowledged the key contributions of members of the Manitoba Music Educators’ Association (MMEA) in co-ordinating this year’s concert series in collaboration with government staff.

“The Manitoba Music Educators’ Association believes that music is a vital part of every child’s education,” said Virginia Helmer, MMEA president.  “The cognitive, social and emotional benefits of active music making are well documented and far-reaching.  This concert series provides a forum for students to share these enriching experiences with the wider community.”

Manitobans are welcome to attend the concert series.  More information is posted at:www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/cur/arts/music/music_month.html.
