Statement from Premier Brian Pallister on Productive Meetings with Manitoba's Grand Chiefs
My heartfelt thanks to Grand Chief Arlen Dumas of the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, Grand Chief Garrison Settee of Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak and Grand Chief Jerry Daniels of Southern Chiefs’ Organization for the thoughtful discussions we shared this past week.
It was an honour to meet with each of you to discuss our shared priorities and the opportunities for partnership and collaboration moving forward.
I believe our discussions have helped form a pathway forward on several important topics including advancing social and economic opportunities, increasing First Nations participation in resource development projects, and working collaboratively on child welfare reforms to improve outcomes for children and families.
The Manitoba government is committed to working collaboratively with you to align our efforts to achieve meaningful progress for First Nations in our province.
