Manitoba Appoints Board Members for General Child and Family Services Authority



The Manitoba government has appointed a new chair and members to the board of directors for the General Child and Family Services Authority, Families Minister Heather Stefanson announced today.

“The General Child and Family Services Authority is a valued partner in ensuring the safety and
well-being of children and families in Manitoba,” said Stefanson.  “I’m pleased to appoint members who share our commitment to children and will be lending their expertise, dedication and compassion to the authority as part of its board.”

New appointments to the authority’s board of directors include:
•    Philip Goodman, chair, to a three-year term;
•    Darlene MacDonald, to a two-year term;
•    Lizanne Lachance, to a three-year term;
•    Lorne Belmore, to a two-year term; and
•    Meaghen Johnston, to a three-year term.

Current board member James Lowry has also been appointed vice-chair of the board of directors for the remainder of his term.

The minister thanked outgoing members of the board for their service.

The minister also noted these appointments support the Manitoba government’s efforts to continue to refresh the agencies, boards and commissions of the province, ensuring Manitobans continue to be represented in these important positions by highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals.
