Appointments Made to Board of Directors for Manitoba Film and Music
Two new members have been appointed, and one member reappointed to the board of Manitoba Film and Music, Sport, Culture and Heritage Minister Cathy Cox announced today.
“Manitoba is home to so many local, talented entertainers, artists and the supporting cast of other industries that make such great entertainment possible,” said Cox. “The board of directors is dedicated to supporting the local entertainment industry, and we welcome the new energy and insights these talented Manitobans will offer the board.”
New appointments to the board include:
• Debbie Schween is the director of legal affairs for Pollard Banknote Ltd. and has previous experience as the gallery manager and entertainment lawyer for the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame and manager of programming for legal for the Aboriginal People’s Television Network (APTN). Schween has a bachelor of arts with a focus in criminology and a bachelor of laws from the University of Manitoba.
• Bonnie Staples-Lyon is the director of public affairs and stakeholder relations for ChangeMakers Marketing Communications (an Argyle Company), a marketing and strategic communications consulting firm in Winnipeg. She previously served as director of policy and communications for the City of Winnipeg, and has served on numerous boards and committees, including the Royal Canadian Mint and the Canada Summer Games, and she was the City of Winnipeg representative that assisted in bringing the 2014 Junos to Winnipeg.
Reappointed to the board:
• Kevin Donnelly is the senior vice-president of venues and entertainment for True North Sports and Entertainment, where he is responsible for the management of Bell MTS Place. He has experience as the vice-president for the House of Blues Concerts Canada and is also a board member of the Winnipeg Art Gallery and Economic Development Winnipeg. He participates on the Advisory Board of the Venue Coalition, representing over 50 arenas across North America.
The minister thanked outgoing board members for their service. She noted these appointments are part of the Manitoba government’s efforts to continue to refresh the agencies, boards and commissions of our province, ensuring that Manitobans continue to be represented in these important positions by highly qualified and enthusiastic individuals.
