COVID-19 Vaccine Bulletin #8

Yesterday, 490 people were immunized against COVID-19 and a total of 2,177 immunizations have been given since vaccine arrived in Manitoba earlier this month. One adverse event following immunization has been reported in Manitoba to date.

The next immunization clinic will take place at University of Manitoba’s Rady Faculty of Health Sciences on the Bannatyne campus, on Tuesday, Dec. 29 and Wednesday, Dec. 30. To date, about 400 appointments have been made and approximately 530 remain available. The phone line is open to eligible health-care workers from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily until all spaces are filled.

Eligibility criteria currently includes health-care workers whose work involves direct contact with patients and who meet at least one of the following criteria:
• work in critical care units (expanded to no longer have any age restrictions);
• work in long-term care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1962;
• work in acute care facilities, born on or before Dec. 31, 1962 (expanded from 1960); or
• assigned to a COVID-19 immunization clinic or testing site (expanded to include testing sites).

Individuals should not call to make an appointment unless they meet the eligibility criteria. If any additional expansions to eligibility criteria are made on Dec. 25 or 26, this will be shared from the province’s Twitter channel at https://twitter.com/MBGov and posted at www.manitoba.ca/vaccine.

Beginning in January, Manitoba will launch an online dashboard to provide statistics about the immunization program. More information about the vaccine campaign in Manitoba is available at www.manitoba.ca/vaccine.
